I often walk down Banyan Street. It's so nice and cool. I love to have an ice cream and stroll down to the beach.

This is an Iguana that hangs out at the restaurant. He's often spotted on the railroad ties by the parking area.
This is a picture of tarpon in the pass. I took it while I was in my first tarpon tournament. We didn't win but what a fantastic sight to see the shark and tarpon slamming the water.
If you need hardware, sun block, or other miscellaneous items, go to Barnichol Hardware. They have just about everything. Very friendly people.
This is the local fire department. I've had to call on them more than once because of keys locked in cars. They are a great bunch of guys.
The bike path runs almost the entire length of the island. It's such a nice, relaxing way to see the island.
Hughes Gallery is where we bought the picture of the depot that's hanging in our dining room. Barb is an owner and artist. A definite must see when you come to town. And if you happen to forget your bikes, rent from the Bike and Beach.
The Grape Vine is a great little store if you're in the mood for something gourmet to treat yourself.
This is the entrance to a little park with a fountain and some benches to relax and enjoy. It's one of my favorite places in the winter.
Fresh Produce seems to be very popular. Customers are always coming in with their shopping bags from this store. It's just around the corner from the restaurant.
The Light House is at the end of the island. It overlooks Boca Grande Pass where everyone goes to tarpon fish.
Damficare and Damfino are two of the street signs on the island. I think it represents the island laid back attitude.
Whiddens Marina is an experience. I think I'll just leave it at that.
Boca Boats is where we always rent from. They have great prices and easy access all over the island. Tell them the Loose Caboose sent you.

This is our daughter Miranda. She's a Midshipman 2nd class at Embry Riddle. She received this award at their annual ceremony. Jacques is really proud of his little girl.
We volunteer for the Wildlife Center of Venice.
Here's a picture of Jacques releasing a gull that had an injured wing. I released this Loon the same day. We capture and transport to the facility any injured birds and wildlife. It's a lot of fun.

These are baby Wrens that I transported to the Wilflife Center. They will raise these babies until they are fully fledged.
These raccoons are in the cages that Jacques and I helped build.
The Eagle Scouts definately helped the center by building these beautiful cages.
Here's one of the flight aviaries. There are three total. Miranda and I spent a day helping build these.
The baby sandhill crane is the only one left from his family. He was put in this aviary with other sandhills.
This is Blue the pelican. He was rescued on Boca. Joe called me to let me know he had been stabbed in the head by a Great Blue Heron. He was just transerred to a flight cage.
